The Foundation Year of this course helps you build the necessary skills and basic understanding needed to be successful during the following three years. The following years gradually increase the intensity of your learning — building your understanding of entrepreneurship and new venture management while also providing unique learning pathways to explore during the final year.

Our BA (Hons) Global Business and Entrepreneurship with Foundation Year prepares you to realise the potential of your own business ideas — from the awareness to spot lucrative opportunities to the skills needed to make them a reality. This course has an engaging structure that also takes you through dynamic organisations and how they generate employment opportunities, economic growth and social transformation.

You will constantly test your learning and ideas, practising entrepreneurship in real-world scenarios in the classroom — building business planning skills critical for entrepreneurial success. This course also explores the theory and practice of entrepreneurship in different contexts gaining a clear understanding of how strategy, tactics and innovation are valued in different business models.

This course includes the following modules during the first three years of study. The final year of study has six unique pathways that each explore contemporary issues in today’s business and entrepreneurship landscape. You will undertake the specialist module relevant to your chosen pathway.

This course uses an authentic assessment strategy to ensure that each module takes you into realistic real-life situations, providing a formative pathway for assessing the learning goals of both specific modules and the overall programme. The assessments in the majority of the modules allow you to use your own business ideas, therefore allowing you to receive detailed feedback and time to reflect and develop your proposals further.

Assessment on the course is designed to provide suitable opportunities for you to demonstrate a full range of knowledge, skills and competencies that are key in the business environment. Assessment methods include essays, reports, real-life simulations, presentations, projects and group debates.

You will be required to work in your own time to complete research, homework tasks or group work. Self-study is vital to your success in this course and lecturers will give you guidance on how best to approach this throughout the study period.

Assessment methods at ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø are reviewed annually and may be updated based on student feedback, to suit content or based upon feedback from an External Examiner. An External Examiner is an independent academic expert from an external Higher Education Institution that acts as a safeguard to academic assessment standards.

Applicants Must be Aged 18+ and:

  • Have a Level 3 qualification (equivalent to either 60 credits or 80 UCAS tariff points).
  • Have the following English qualification: GCSE grade 4/C or CEFR B1. If you do not have this qualification, you can carry out an English test provided at a ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø campus.

Applicants Aged 21+:

  • We welcome applications from students 21+ who do not match the standard entry requirements but who can demonstrate willingness and commitment to studying this subject, and who can evidence academic, professional or vocational experience in a related field.
  • Have the following English qualification: GCSE grade 4/C or CEFR B1. If you do not have this qualification, you can carry out an English test provided at a ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø campus.

Funding Your Study
You can apply for financial help to support your studies by visiting gov.uk/student finance.
This could take the form of a Tuition Fee Loan to cover the cost of your tuition fees, and/or a Maintenance Loan to support you with living costs whilst studying.
  • If you are eligible, you can apply for a Tuition Fee Loan which will be paid directly to your university or learning provider and is used to settle your tuition fees on your behalf. You will be required to start repaying the loan when you have finished your studies, and your income is above the required threshold set out by the UK Government. 

  • If you are eligible, you can also apply for a Maintenance Loan, these funds are paid directly into your bank account in accordance with your course of study and pre-set intervals. The maintenance loan repayment operates in the same way as it does for tuition fee loans.

  • All students need to meet the eligibility criteria to apply such as eligibility checks on your nationality, residency status and any previous study that you have been funded for.
